Technical specifications
The Borg T4 dissected down to the most important detailsTechnical specifications of the heat battery
Below you will find the most important technical specifications. The inner workings of the Borg T4, explained succinctly.
Buffer volume |
4.000 liters (plain water) |
Storage capacity |
approx. 200 kWh thermal * |
Dimensions buffer tank (l x w x h) |
approx. 380 x 290 x 160 cm |
Heat loss |
< 1% per day |
Material |
EPS200 / EPDM |
Design lifetime |
50 years |
*Comparable to about 60 kWh electric or six 10 kWh electric batteries
This capacity depends on the output temperature in the home. It is sufficient to heat an average new home in winter for about one week without using the heat pump.
Technical specifications of the low-pressure connection set
The connection set consists of two boxes that together make sure the heat battery, the heat pump and the home are in close connection. The central hub! A low-pressure connection set (LP) that is always placed somewhere on the ground floor - and a high-pressure connection set (HP) that can be placed wherever you want.
Dimensions (approx.) |
Size of heat interface unit of district heating |
Location |
Near the buffer tank, always on the ground floor |
Controls |
The transportation to and from the heat battery |
Supply pipe |
Wiring harness (approx. 26 cm in diameter) from the buffer tank to the low-pressure connection set |
Drainpipe |
Supply pipe and drainpipe from LP connection set to HP connection set |
Other pipes |
Sensor cable between HP connection set, Borg Control Box and LP connection set |
Connected to |
Heat battery and HP connection set |
Working pressure |
Unpressurized |
Requirements |
Ground floor, frost-free room, connection wiring harness (approx. 26 cm diameter) via crawl space or soil, power source, can be outside the house in shed or garage |
Technical specifications of the high-pressure connection set
The connection set consists of two boxes that together make sure the heat battery, the heat pump, and the home are in close connection. The central hub! A low-pressure connection set (LP) that is always placed somewhere on the ground floor - and a high-pressure connection set (HP) that can be placed wherever you want.
Dimensions (approx.) |
Size of heat interface unit of district heating |
Location |
In the (technical room of the) home / frost-free room |
Controls |
The transportation to and from the home |
Supply pipe |
Supply pipe and drainpipe from the HP connection set to the LP connection set |
Drainpipe |
Supply pipe and drainpipe from the radiators/floor heating of the home and tap water |
Other pipes |
Sensor cable between HP connection set and Borg Control Box (BCB). BCB is positioned nearby the HP connection set. |
Connected to |
Low-pressure connection set and home |
Working pressure |
Equal to the central heating circuit of the home |
Requirements |
Power source, located in the high-pressure circuit and for that reason can be placed anywhere in the home |
Technical specifications of the wiring harness
The wiring harness is the underground connection between the buffer tank and the low-pressure connection set. It contains all the sensors, water, and power lines needed for communication.
Diameter (approx.) |
26 cm |
Contents/kinds of pipes |
Warm water and cold water pipes, monitoring cables, ventilation and filling pipes, and suction pipes |
Connection between |
Heat battery and low-pressure connection set |
Requirements |
Preferably as close as possible to the low-pressure connection set |
Bend radius |
90 degree curve / 60 cm |
Finishing |
EPS 250, protection, underground |
Borg Control Box (BCB)
The Borg Control Box is a smart and predictive controller. It receives its strategy from the cloud and issues commands to the heat pump and heat battery. The data it uses as input are the weather forecast, dynamic electricity prices, and knowledge about the heat demand of the home in a certain (expected) weather type.
Dimensions (approx.) |
30 x 15 x 15 cm |
Controls |
Receives its strategy from the cloud, issues commands to heat pump and heat battery |
Location |
Preferably close to the high-pressure connection set |
Connected to |
High-pressure connection set, thermostat, heat pump controler and the Cloud. |
Strategy Software |
Monthly subscription to determine strategy, remote updates & diagnostics |
